ABOUT KIANA

It all started in my parents’ garage...

My musical journey started early — singing harmonies with my sister Kalina, while we were still in car seats.

By 11 and 13, we formed an all-girl band called The Raymies, in my parents’ garage. Things ramped up quickly. We performed over 100 shows across the country and were constantly in the studio.

We  caught the attention of Brillstein Entertainment who partnered with John Stamos to co-write and produce a TV pilot for Disney. They loved it and promised that it would replace Hannah Montana. Major record labels were bidding for us, and my biggest dreams were about to come true.

While waiting for Hannah Montana’s final season to play out, Disney secretly stole our TV show concept and gave it to the Jonas Brothers…their new show had our plot line, our jokes, and even similar shots from our pilot.

Nearly a year later, Disney came back to us (as if nothing had happened) and asked to create a new show with us…but plot twist…this time, they asked to recast the other girls in the band. They only offered the show to Kalina and me.  After much thought and prayer, we passed on the deal in an effort to keep the band together. Other members of the group never emotionally recovered from this and within a few months, The Raymies imploded.

Our Post-Disney Moments

Kalina and I kept going. We were days away from signing with a record label in Nashville only to find out that their offices had  been raided by the FBI for money laundering…No, I’m not making this up…So, we dove into songwriting, landed placements in film and television, and even signed a deal for our own TV show in Europe. While under a strict contract that restricted our ability to promote ourselves, we waited more than a year for filming to begin. During that time, we quietly launched a side project called Rocky’s Revival. We were voted Best Indie Band in Orange County, opening for artists like The Bangles and Justin Bieber.

After years of being  contractually bound to this European company, we waited through corporate buy-outs that put our project on hold. The show was finally ready to go in 2016. At that point we weren't interested in doing a tween show anymore, so we passed on the lead roles and opted to write the music for the show instead. Maggie & Bianca: Fashion Friends ran for three seasons on Netflix. We made a guest appearance and had a blast. We also wrote music for other projects including Miraculous Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir.

Once free from contractual obligations, we officially became Kalina & Kiana — fully independent, fully committed.

And Now — My Next Chapter

After 16 years of pursuing our dream together, Kalina stepped into a new season of life and motherhood. I’m so proud of her, and obsessed with my nephew.

And I’m still chasing the music that’s been burning in my heart since I was 11 years old, singing “Our Lips Are Sealed” by the Go-Go’s in my parents’ garage.

Now as Kiana Maxson, I’m stepping into a sound that blends joyful pop anthems that you’ll want to blast in your car, with the windows down on PCH — and worship songs meant to draw you closer to the heart of God. My debut solo album, The Light & the Things the Light Shines On, arrived in the fall of 2025.

My prayer is that when you listen to my album, you will feel understood, met in your pain, joined in your joy, and drawn closer to the heart of God.
